Exclusive: Wrexham open talks to sign Tottenham star Ben Davies
Wrexham have opened talks to sign Tottenham defender Ben Davies when his contract expires, sources have told Football Insider.
The hugely ambitious Championship club are working on a deal to land the 32-year-old Wales international on a free transfer.
Davies is out of contract at Spurs next month, but could still agree an extension after playing 28 matches under Ange Postecoglou this season.
Wrexham are one of many clubs trying to lure the experienced campaigner as they plot instant promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.
It is believed Davies will consider multiple offers before deciding where to play next term.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 11 May that Tottenham are prepared to lose Davies on a free transfer as part of a major squad overhaul.

Ben Davies race hots up amid Wrexham and Leeds interest
Davies is seen as an ambitious target for Wrexham, as he will likely court Premier League offers and could remain at Spurs, but they are determined to lure him to the Racecourse.
His ability to play both at centre-back and left-back is seen as a valuable asset, as well as his vast experience at Premier League and international level.
Wrexham are not alone in their pursuit of the defender as former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Leeds want to sign Davies.
Daniel Farke’s side had considered a move during the January transfer window, but are prepared to reignite their interest should he become available on a free.
That claim was echoed by former Spurs and Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who told Football Insider that Davies would be a good fit for Leeds.

Red Dragons eye huge £30million Championship spending spree
Wrexham are making plans for an ambitious transfer window as they aim to separate themselves from the threat of relegation after their promotion from League One.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 20 May that Wrexham will have a £30million transfer kitty after cutting dead-wood options from their squad.
The Red Dragons have achieved a remarkable three promotions in just three seasons, and are planning a squad overhaul to boost their chances of an ambitious fourth.
However, it is not just big-money transfers they will target as they are exploring the free transfer market for the likes of Davies and Leicester’s Jamie Vardy.
