Exclusive: Wrexham race four clubs to sign Leeds star Darko Gyabi

Leeds midfielder Darko Gyabi is a target either on loan or permanent for Wrexham and four other clubs, sources have told Football Insider.

Watford, Hull and French duo Lorient and Metz have also registered their interest in signing the 21-year-old before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Gyani spent last season on loan at Plymouth Argyle but has since returned to Leeds, who are open to either a loan or permanent exit.

Football Insider previously reported in July that Championship clubs were monitoring Gyabi for a potential temporary move, but a permanent deal is now also on the table.

He appears to have fallen further down the pecking order following Leeds’ promotion and a number of new signings. With opportunities limited, he is now exploring options elsewhere as multiple clubs express interest in securing his services.

Darko Gyabi set for Leeds United exit

With competition for places from Ao Tanaka, Illia Gruev and Joe Rothwell last term, Gyabi was sent out on loan, but he now faces even more competition on his return to Leeds.

The Whites have strengthened their midfield further this window, as Leeds completed the signings of Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach, adding to the challenge for Gyabi to secure regular game time.

Gyabi’s contract at Leeds expires next summer, meaning manager Farke may look to cash in on the 21-year-old before then.

The England Under-20 international showed promise after joining Leeds from Manchester City’s academy and while he has already gained valuable experience for his age, it now appears likely Gyabi is set to leave Leeds.

Championship clubs remain interested, but a move to France could also be an option ahead of the 1 September transfer deadline.

While Gyabi faces an exit with multiple suitors, Leeds are also pursuing further additions in the final days of the transfer window.

Football Insider has reported that Leeds are preparing a move for Bilal El Khannouss after talks with Crystal Palace fell through.

Leicester City had placed a £35 million valuation on the Morocco international, a fee that Palace are unwilling to meet. However, Farke is understood to be a strong admirer of the attacking midfielder.

Football Insider previously revealed on 24 August that Farke aimed to bring in four more players before the deadline, including a number 10, and a deal for El Khannouss could now materialise in the coming days.
