Expert ‘absolutely stunned’ by latest Tottenham stadium development – ‘I couldn’t believe it’

Tottenham may have moved one step closer to securing a stadium naming rights deal after hosting another successful boxing match.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium played host to Tyson Fury’s latest clash against Derek Chisora last weekend (3 December).

Wenham claims Spurs will have made a significant amount of money from the event and claims its success may go a long way in helping the club secure a lucrative naming rights deal.

“There were roughly 66,000 people there for an outdoor boxing fight in December,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It was freezing, I couldn’t believe it. I was absolutely stunned there were so many people there. We know that Tottenham always do very well out of these events.

“You consider the food and drink that gets bought and all of the merchandise that is purchased by 66,000 people, that adds up.

“It’s another evening where our billion-and-a-half quid stadium was front and centre on the world stage for all to see.

“Another successful night as well so hopefully that can go some way to securing a new naming rights deal over the next few weeks or months because that has to be a priority for the club.”

On 10 October David Ornstein reported Tottenham are in “meaningful talks” with Google over a naming rights deal for their stadium.

A deal worth £20million per season could net the club over £400million over the next 20 years.
