Expert: Albian Ajeti will be first out the door at Celtic this summer – ‘Ange doesn’t like him’

Albian Ajeti will be the first Celtic player to leave the club this summer.

That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s summer plans.

Ajeti, 25, has only played 22 minutes of Scottish Premiership action since 21 February.

He also struggled to work his way back into the side following injuries to Kyogo Furuhashi and Georgios Giakouamkis.

A Celtic source told Football Insider on 5 March Ajeti does not figure in Ange Postecoglou’s plans going forward and the club will listen to offers for him in the summer window.

McAvennie doesn’t expect Ajeti to hang around, with a sale expected “as soon as possible”.

“You look at who could leave this summer,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There aren’t too many I want us to get rid of, it’s about trimming the fat.

“Ajeti is the obvious one and I expect him to go as soon as possible. He just hasn’t done it.

“For him to play so little, with all the injuries there have been, it just tells me Ange doesn’t like him.

“For a moment earlier this season I wondered if there was a way back for him, he got a few goals in Europe.

“But he never pushed on and that just proved what everyone already thinks. He’s not good enough.”

Ajeti has scored six goals in 30 total outings this season.

He has made 48 total appearances for the club.

In other news, Celtic have been tipped to sign “the next Scott Brown” this summer.
