Expert ‘annoyed beyond belief’ as latest Tottenham stadium news ‘bad look for the club’

Losing the right to host rugby union’s European Cup finals next season is a “bad look” for Tottenham.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On 19 May, The Telegraph reported Tottenham have lost the chance to host rugby union’s European Cup finals next season.

It is claimed this is due to a knock-on effect of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which will take place between November and December and cause a delay to the Premier League campaign.

However, while announcing the decision to move the games, European Professional Club Rugby EPCR] revealed they hope to return to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in the future.

Wenham has been left baffled by this development.

“The article says there are scheduling issues, did someone not look at the calendar?” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’m sorry but stuff like this annoys me beyond belief. There are so many good things going for the club at the moment but it seems we are hiring people who are well below the required standard.

“How did no one think there would be an issue here? The 2022 World Cup has been in the diary for years at this point.

“It really frustrates me because we have this amazing stadium and it sits there empty. I have said this before, it needs to be full every weekend.

“I just don’t understand how this has happened, it’s a bad look for the club.”

Tottenham’s stadium will host several high-profile concerts this summer.

There have also been reports about the venue making a bid to host a future NFL SuperBowl.
