Expert: Anthony Taylor ‘guilty’ after controversial Liverpool footage analysed
Paul Robinson has slammed referee Anthony Taylor for his decision not to send off Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane at Chelsea.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League goalkeeper said the referee “is guilty” of being influenced by the timing of the incident.
Mane was booked after knocking Cesar Azpilicueta to the floor with his arm in the first minute of Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the clash (2 January), Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel fumed over the decision.
Ex-Fifa referee and Football Insider expert Keith Hackett agreed with Tuchel and blamed VAR for not intervening.
When asked for his thoughts on the controversial incident, Robinson told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “Mane should have been sent off, 100 per cent. It was definitely a red.
“You cannot lead with your arm like that. He was nowhere near the ball. The ball wasn’t even close when he did it.
“The referee is guilty of being taken over by the fact it was so early on in the game. Whether it is six seconds or 60 minutes the decision should be the same.

“I cannot see how Mane could stay on the field after that, I really don’t. It was a straight red.
“Don’t get me wrong, he doesn’t get him with his elbow. It is his wrist and his arm but it still did not look nice.”
