Expert can’t believe Gianluca Scamacca could now be dropped amid 100% West Ham claim
Noel Whelan has insisted West Ham must now “100% stick by” attacking trio Gianluca Scamacca, Jarrod Bowen, and Lucas Paqueta after their win over Wolves.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed there has been “too much tinkering” from David Moyes so far this season.
Scamacca and Bowen notched their first top-flight strikes of the season on Saturday (1 October) as West Ham claimed their second league win of the season against Wolves.
The Italy international, who had scored three goals in the UEFA Conference League, has been rotated with Michail Antonio this season.
West Ham paid a reported £35.5million for Scamacca’s services in the summer window, a fee which was surpassed when Paqueta joined for a reported £51million.
Whelan has insisted Moyes must now maintain a consistent team selection irrespective of results.
When asked if Scamacca is now undroppable for Moyes, he told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Absolutely.
“I’ve said before that Scamacca has got to play. They’ve spent a lot of money on him.
“Paqueta they’ve brought in for creativity, and Jarrod Bowen may have just needed one goal to kickstart his season.
“They should 100% stick by those three players now. They’ll now be full of belief and confidence.
“There’s been too much tinkering from David Moyes, but now – win, lose or draw – he’s got to stick with these three players.
“He’s got to get some sort of flow and chemistry going between them.”

West Ham face Fulham in Premier League action on Sunday (9 October).
The Irons sit 15th in the top flight after losing five of their first eight games of the new campaign.
