Expert can’t believe Tottenham-Ange Postecoglou reveal – ‘how he’s got that off Daniel Levy is beyond me’
Ange Postecoglou is “set for life” after quitting Celtic for Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic and West Ham striker Frank McAvennie couldn’t believe Postecoglou was offered a four-year deal at the London club.
Spurs confirmed the appointment of Postecoglou as their new manager as his exit from Parkhead was confirmed just two years after joining the Scottish Champions.
Tottenham have been in search of a new manager after sacking Antonio Conte earlier in the season and have chosen the Australian as the man to lead them to success after a disappointing season.
The 57-year-old was appointed on a 12-month rolling contract back in 2021 and according to The Telegraph (5 June), Celtic are set to land £5million in compensation for their former manager.
When asked if he was surprised to see Postecoglou depart the Glasgow giants, McAvennie told Football Insider: “No,
“Tottenham is a big, big club. I know everyone in Scotland says Celtic are a bigger club and I get that, as in supporters and merchandising.
“But, Tottenham are playing in the biggest and potentially richest league in the world.
“Even the most die hard of Celtic fans cannot refuse the money they can offer, it is impossible.
“If it does not work he is still set for life. He signed a four-year deal, how he got that off Daniel Levy is beyond me.“

Postecoglou departs the Hoops are securing a domestic treble as well as back-to-back league titles.
He joins a Tottenham side that have been struggling for results and face uncertainty surrounding the future of their star man Harry Kane.
