Expert can’t believe what he saw Thomas Tuchel do in Tottenham showdown – ‘I’ve never seen that’

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has cut all of his ties with Chelsea after clashing with Thomas Tuchel during Sunday’s draw with his former side.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Conte and Tuchel clashed on several occasions during a tense 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (14 August).

The managers squared up to each other for the first time after Tottenham drew level at 1-1.

At the end of the game, Conte and Tuchel shook hands but it appears Tuchel would not let go as another scuffle broke out between the benches.

Wenham was delighted to see Conte immediately backed up by his players.

“It cuts all ties to Chelsea, Conte is a totally Tottenham now,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Tuchel is very provocative. When Chelsea got their second he ran right in front of Conte. I saw Conte made a point on social media to say it was lucky he didn’t see that because he would have tripped him up.

“That would have flared everything up again. Tuchel, I have never seen that side of him before, probably because Chelsea beat us four times last year.

“We have raised our game over the summer and improved to no end, suddenly he starts behaving like that. I think Conte was absolutely right in everything he did.

“Then you have Tuchel with the really aggressive handshake at the end, he wouldn’t let go of him. I was pleased to see all of the Tottenham players running in to back their manager.

“As I say, we hadn’t seen this side of Tuchel before but obviously you see the same with Conte when things don’t go to plan.”
