Expert demands multiple sackings as Liverpool investigation launched – ‘They don’t have a conscience’

Individual police officers must be “punished” for the way they treated Liverpool fans before Saturday’s 1-0 Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.

That is the view of ex-Aston Villa and England forward Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after an investigation was launched into the scenes outside the Stade de France.

BBC Sport reported on Tuesday (31 May) that Uefa have commissioned an independent report into the incident that led to kick-off being delayed by over half-an-hour.

The police used tear gas on supporters and the French have blamed the disruption on fake tickets.

“I think it comes down to the police,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“English police aren’t like that. If that was in England they wouldn’t be using tear gas on kids, I feel they would have a bit of a conscience to not do that. There are other ways of stopping crowds.

“Whoever the French police were didn’t have a conscience and didn’t care about human beings. That’s what it comes down to.

“Those police officers should be punished. They should find the exact police officers who did the crime on the Liverpool fans and they should be punished.

“You do get it in different places in the world that you go to. Look at American police. You go to parts of South America, the police do not play any games.

“They are very hard on you and that’s why when you go to these countries you are scared to even sneeze never mind act up because the police are so rough.

“It’s good now that we’ve got camera phones so there’s going to be evidence.”
