Expert digs at Tottenham fans after Harry Kane ‘didn’t turn up’

Harry Kane’s trip to America is not to blame for his below-par performance as Tottenham lost to Brighton.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Kane, 28, flew out to Augusta to watch the conclusion of The Masters after his side beat Aston Villa last weekend (9 April).

On Saturday (16 April), Kane failed to make an impact as Spurs’ recent impressive Premier League form came to an end against Brighton.

As per WhoScored, the striker only had one off-target shot in the game.

Wenham claims Kane’s poor performance has nothing to do with his trip.

“Tottenham players returned to training on Tuesday, including Harry Kane,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“After his very public appearance at the golf, no comparison can be made after his performance against Brighton.

“He was back on Tuesday morning so he had Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to train and sleep as much as he wanted to.

“I saw a few people on social media point the finger at Kane and suggest he was jetlagged.

“It’s completely irrelevant because it wasn’t just Kane, it was the entire team who didn’t turn up.”

Tottenham

Kane had been in brilliant form before his blank against Brighton, providing 10 goal contributions in his last eight league games.

However, he has now failed to score in his last four outings.

In other news, Kevin Campbell has named the three Tottenham players who will clinch their top-four finish ahead of Arsenal.
