Expert: Everton may banish Salomon Rondon from first-team training after source’s reveal

Salomon Rondon may be forced to train with the youth team at Everton, according to Alex McLeish.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and Scotland manager claimed Frank Lampard has “dusted his hands” of Rondon.

Sources told Football Insider earlier this week (28 September) that Everton have told 32-year-old to find a new club and they have no plans for him.

He was in negotiations with Turkish Super Lig clubs including Adana Demirspor but was not able to come to an agreement before the 8 September deadline.

Rondon still has a year left to run on his contract at Goodison Park but will slip further down the pecking order as Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to return from injury.

“It looks like Frank’s dusted his hands of him,” McLeish told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“The manager is entitled to do that. What will happen now is that, he’ll probably train with a ‘B’ squad and will not be a part of the first team.

“Frank has made that very loud and clear.

“Benitez, back in the day, had a trust with him. I guess, some mangers can get more out of players than others.

“His goal return has not been what they expected.

“Saying that, he’s getting to the end of his playing career. He’s 32, so maybe there’s a year or two to go and if he looks after himself I’m sure he will.

“Not at this level though, not at the Premier League level. The Premier League is the toughest and best in the world.

“When I saw Salomon coming back, I thought it wasn’t the best move for Everton.

“It was only opinion and Rafa [Benitez] has more trust and knows him better than I do.

“When Rafa left, I thought that was the end of his Everton career.”

In other news, Newcastle United are racing Everton to sign a forward and £29million will seal the deal.
