Expert: Frank Lampard needs ‘miracles’ at Everton as £150m transfer claim made
Everton fans should be worried by the lack of transfer activity at Goodison Park this summer.
That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ transfer troubles.
A full-strength Everton side were beaten 4-0 by MLS side Minnesota United in a pre-season clash on 21 July.
Last season’s top scorer, Richarlison, has already left the Toffees this summer and the only arrival has been James Tarkowski.
When asked if Everton fans should be worried by the lack of incomings, McLeish told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley, “I would be, yes.
“It’s the end of pre-season training and we are just about to kick off. They have lost Richarlison who was a really good player for them, a focal point.
“There has been no business done. You really feel that with Everton, it is going to be a tough one for Frank. Unless he produces a bit of magic or miracles.
“If you don’t get that support from above in terms of spending the money the manager needs, I’m afraid it’s going to be a tough one.
“It was the same for me at Aston Villa back in the day, there was no money to spend. It was about shaving money off the wages.

“We did that for a whole season and still survived. Fulham went down after spending £150million two or three years ago.
“Villa nearly went down after Dean Smith spend a couple of hundred million. That shows the power of the quality of player you need.”
