Expert fumes at Tottenham fans as ‘bizarre’ Davinson Sanchez criticism slammed
Tottenham fans should end their “long-standing grudges” with Davinson Sanchez.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Sanchez, 26, returned to the Spurs starting XI for Saturday’s (20 August) 1-0 win over Wolves after Cristian Romero suffered an injury following last week’s won over Chelsea.
This was his first start of the 2022-23 campaign though he was a regular in the final weeks of the 2021-22 season.
As per Sky Sports reporter Jamie Weir, Spurs have now not conceded a goal with Sanchez on the pitch for seven and a half hours.
Wenham can’t understand some fans’ reaction to Sanchez starting ahead of summer loan signing Clement Lenglet.
“Sanchez, Mr clean sheet. It’s now seven and a half hours since we conceded with him on the pitch,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I find it [comliaints over Lenglet not starting] slightly bizarre. People forget that towards the end of last season Sanchez played those three games in a row where we did not concede.
“Conte obviously likes Sanchez so whatever long-standing grudges people have against him are irrelevant. This is what Conte wants.
“He was excellent against Wolves and I was really pleased for him. I expect him to start against Forest next week assuming Romero is still injured.”

Sanchez made 32 appearances for Spurs in all competitions last season.
Tottenham are next in action against Nottingham Forest on Sunday (28 August).
