Expert: Gabriel Jesus can thrive at Arsenal amid ‘absolutely magnificent’ claim

Gabriel Jesus can prove how good he is after signing for Arsenal.

That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gunners’ latest signing.

Arsenal announced the signing of Jesus from Manchester City.

The 25-year-old striker joins the club after scoring 13 goals in 41 games for City during the 2021-22 season.

He should serve as a direct replacement for Alexandre Lacazette, who left the club earlier this summer to join Lyon.

McLeish claims Jesus can thrive at Arsenal if he is given more minutes than he was afforded at The Etihad.

“Whether he can be the main man remains to be seen,” McLeish told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild

“You feel there is a player in there somewhere. He wasn’t a regular at Man City because the quality that team has is absolutely magnificent, we know that.

“There was a spell at the end of the season where I thought this guy really has some talent and maybe he doesn’t get enough game time.

“Can he keep consistency and show everyone how good he is? Going to Arsenal gives him a chance at doing just that.”

Arsenal have already announced the signings of Fabio Viera and Marquinhos this summer.

Arteta’s side have also already renewed Eddie Nketiah’s contract during the off-season – while Lacazette has left the club for Lyon at the end of his deal.
