Expert ‘gutted’ for Ben Davies after Tottenham reveal – ‘it’s a blow’

Ben Davies’ fresh injury is a significant blow for Tottenham ahead of the Premier League restart.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On 8 December Football.London reported Davies, 29, is set to miss the restart of the Premier League after suffering an injury in Qatar.

The defender started all of Wales’ games in Qatar as they exited the competition without winning a game.

Davies has been in sparkling form for Spurs this season, starting 11 of the club’s 14 Premier League games.

Wenham insists he will be a big miss even if Clement Lenglet can replace him.

“On Ben Davies, I’m gutted for him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“That being said, we do have Clement Lenglet who can come straight in for him, that’s why he was signed.

“He has been back at Spurs working with Conte during the World Cup and I expect he will play a big role in the friendlies we have coming up before the season starts again.

“Davies had a torrid time at the World Cup and he has come back injured so it couldn’t have gone much worse for him really.

“I still rate him and I hope he can get back to full fitness as soon as possible because we need all of our defenders ready for this run of heavy fixtures.

“Yeah, it is a bit of a blow for us.”
