Expert issues ‘200%’ verdict on new Nottingham Forest controversy
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Huddersfield Town should have had at least one penalty in their 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in Sunday’s Champions League play-off final.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Max Lowe’s challenge on Lewis O’Brien towards the end of the game was “200 per cent” a penalty.
Huddersfield first appealed for a spot kick in the 72nd minute when Jack Colback came together with Harry Toffolo who was shown a yellow card by Jon Moss for simulation.
Less than 10 minutes later, the Terriers appealed for a penalty again for the challenge on O’Brien but Moss waved away their calls.
Nottingham Forest’s held on to return to the Premier League after a 23-year absence.
“One of the penalty shouts, the second one, when the player is coming in from the right, that’s definitely a penalty,” Agbonlahor said after analysing the footage with Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“The other one, the first one, where the defender was running in was 50:50.
“That second challenge was 200 per cent a penalty. I feel if the referee gives that then VAR doesn’t overturn it, no way.
“It’s exciting times for Forest and you want them to start buying players because the squad of players they’ve got now is not good enough to stay in the Premier League.”

Steve Cooper took over at the City Ground in September 2021 after Forest won just one of their opening eight Championship games.
They ended the season in fourth and beat Sheffield United in the play-off semi-finals to set up the final with Huddersfield.
