Expert issues ‘huge’ Tom Lawrence claim after Rangers latest
Alan Hutton has backed Tom Lawrence to be “huge” for Rangers when he returns from injury.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back likened Lawrence to Joe Aribo and insisted he has been a “huge loss”.
The 28-year-old was a stand-out summer signing for the Ibrox club but has not featured for the Light Blues since late August.
There had been growing fan concern on social media that Lawrence had suffered a setback and would be missing until March.
On 23 November Rangers fan media Heart & Hand reported that the club have said the Welshman is on track to return as planned.
Hutton has backed Lawrence to be an integral player for the Light Blues in the second half of the season.
“I think he is a guy that could make a difference,” he told Football Insider.
“He kind of fits into that mould of Joe Aribo. He can give you something a little bit different. Recently performances have not been great but I think they have missed that guy who can be the link between the defence and midfield.

“When he was playing at the start of the season he showed that he was more than capable of making things happen and I really believe that is what Rangers have been missing.
“He has been a huge loss for them. I think him coming back after the break can really be a spark for Rangers moving forward. “
