Expert issues ‘insane’ Skipp claim after ‘incredible’ Tottenham sighting
John Wenham has been blown away by a recent stat reveal that ranks Tottenham ace Oliver Skipp among Europe’s best midfielders.
Spurs insider Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, wants someone to show the midfielder’s stats to Gareth Southgate.
On Sunday (2 January) Wenham shared a graph that shows Skipp, 21, excelling alongside some of Europe’s top midfielders.
The graph shows the midfielder ranking alongside Man City’s Rodri and Real Madrid’s Tony Kross as a player who is “secure on the ball and progresses play” based on stats such as turnovers and progressive actions per 90 minutes.
Wenham hopes Southgate gets a chance to look at the impressive stats.
“Incredible stuff, whack that on Gareth Southgate’s desk,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Skipp has been very, very impressive for us this season. He has improved game on game.
“Mourinho said he could be a future captain of Tottenham. Poch brought him into the first team in 2017.
“He started against West Ham in the Carabao Cup that season and didn’t look out of place at all.
“His progress was really accelerated by that cracking loan move to Norwich last season where he nearly played 50 games.
“It was an outstanding loan move and he has stepped into the Premier League seamlessly.
“I have said this before but it won’t be long until he’s promoted to the England squad.
“Southgate can’t keep ignoring him. He already knows him from his time with the Under 21s.
“He’s only 21 don’t forget. It’s insane.”

Skipp has made 23 appearances for Spurs this season.
He has started 13 of the club’s 17 league games.
