Expert issues ‘unbelievable’ Matt Doherty claim after what he’s seen at Tottenham
Matt Doherty is set to start at left-back for Tottenham when they face Brentford on Boxing Day.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Doherty, 30, has struggled for game time this season, only starting three Premier League games.

Despite criticism, Emerson Royal has been Antonio Conte’s right-back of choice in the Premier League and Champions League.
After scoring in a friendly against Nice on Wednesday (21 December), Doherty has now scored four times during Spurs’ mid-season friendlies.
Wenham would not be surprised to see Doherty in from the start against the Bees.
“With Perisic still celebrating with Croatia and Sessegnon still injured, Doherty is a real shout to start at Brentford on Boxing Day,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Four goals in these friendlies now, his goal against Nice was unbelievable. He absolutely buried the ball into the top corner.
“He did himself no harm at all. Royal came back into the side after his injury and we didn’t see Djed Spence because he was ill, which was a shame because I was really looking forward to seeing him.
“People might have forgotten how good he was for us at the back end of last season, we just haven’t seen that form again.
“So hopefully he can take this chance and become an option again for us because those wing-back positions are so important to how Conte likes to play.”

Doherty joined Spurs from Wolves in the summer of 2020.
He has made 66 appearances for the club.
