Expert issues upbeat Patrick Bamford claim after Leeds United source’s update

Patrick Bamford rupturing his foot at Leeds United will serve him well in the long term as it allowed him to address his plantar fasciitis injury in full.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

Football Insider sources revealed last Wednesday (4 January) that Leeds fear that Bamford faces an extended spell on the sidelines as he continues to struggle with his recovery from a hernia operation

Prior to that injury, Bamford was ruled out for over six weeks back in March 2022, after he ruptured his plantar fasciitis injury in a Premier League clash against Wolves.

The Leeds striker had been dealing with the foot condition for 12 months prior to the rupture, undergoing prolonged periods of rehabilitation to try and treat it naturally.

However, Bamford ended up having surgery after progressing the injury from a partial tear to a full rupture.

Dinnery believes rupturing the injury may actually serve Bamford better in the long term, with surgery allowing him to fully address the issue without having to play in pain any longer.

We’ve seen that Patrick Bamford managed plantar fasciitis for months before ultimately, there was a rupture,” Dinnery told Football Insider.

I think that probably served him well in the long run because he was able to get that addressed.

You’re never sure and never in control over how you are going to respond and how quickly you can ease back to putting full weight behind the foot.

It’s one of his many injuries and you could see when he stretched for a ball that he pulled up and ruptured the injury.

But that led to surgery and addressing the condition fully after managing it for months in constant pain and inflaming it.

“So actually the injury reacting and rupturing allowed Bamford to address it, so it was one step back and two steps forward.
