Expert: Jack Clarke will re-sign for Sunderland ‘very quickly’ amid Tottenham claim

Jack Clarke could return to Sunderland next season after he signs a new Tottenham contract this summer.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Clarke, 21, made 20 appearances for Sunderland after joining the club on loan in January.

He played the full game in both play-off semi-finals and clocked 29 minutes in the play-off final as the Black Cats returned to the Championship at the fourth time of asking.

Wenham claims he could rejoin Sunderland next season now they are a Championship club and he also expects Clarke to sign a new deal this summer.

“This loan move was really good experience for him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I think the plan, as it stands, will be to let him come back to Tottenham and sign a contract extension.

“He only has one year to go currently and then he should go back out on loan.

“I would be happy for him to go to Sunderland again, obviously he knows everyone there and it would be an move all parties want.

“They are in the Championship now and they will want players in for the start of pre-season.

“Tottenham can get this one done very, very quickly.”
