Expert lambasts Emerson Royal and ‘woeful’ Tottenham teammate after what he’s seen
Ryan Sessegnon and Emerson Royal were “woeful” as Tottenham failed to beat Brentford at the weekend.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Sessegnon, 21, started as Tottenham drew 0-0 with Brentford on Saturday (23 April).
However, he was brought off for Davinson Sachez after 74 minutes as Spurs pushed for a winner.
Emerson, 23, also started but failed to see out the game as he was replaced by Lucas Moura.
Wenham was left incredibly disappointed with both players’ performances.
“The system we play requires the full-backs to produce,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“As I have said before, the options we currently have in that position are not good enough.
“We do not have the personnel to play the way Conte wants us to play.
“Against Brentford, we saw Sessegnon come back in and he was woeful, make no mistake about it. He was very, very poor.
“Would Reguilon have had a difference? Probably not. Emerson Royal was also poor as he so often is.
“Tottenham need to replace them in the summer if we have any desire to get back into the Champions League.”

Sessegnon had not featured in Spurs’ last six Premier League games after picking up a hamstring injury.
Emerson made his 26th league appearance of the season.
