Expert lambasts Hugo Lloris and Tottenham teammate as ‘new information comes out’

Tottenham duo Hugo Lloris and Cristian Romero deserve criticism after their performances in this weekend’s North London derby.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Ten-man Tottenham lost 3-1 to Arsenal on Saturday (1 October) after goals from Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka.

Lloris was unable to hold a Bukayo Saka shot in the second half which Jesus bundled over the line.

Wenham singled out Lloris and Romero for their poor performances.

“It wasn’t just the red card, there were some other really disappointing moments in possession,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Romero had an unusually disappointing game. I was really excited to see him in his first North London derby but I thought he was a little underwhelming.

“In midfield, there had been talk in the week that we were going to go with a three with Bissouma coming in.

“In hindsight, we probably should have done that. It has come out since that Bissouma may have had some sort of issues while on international duty with Bali.

“That’s why he didn’t start and could only come on as a sub. The criticism of Lloris is fair, he spilt it right in front of himself and slowly got around in trying to deal with it.

“It should have been dealt with. However, as I always say, Lloris is a fantastic, elite, world-class player and we shouldn’t forget that.”

Tottenham are next in action against Frankfurt on Tuesday (4 October).

Spurs remain third in the league ahead of next weekend’s game against Brighton (8 October).
