Expert lambasts Jermaine Jenas over ‘unnecessary’ Tottenham player comments – ‘direct your negativity elsewhere’
John Wenham has slammed Jermaine Jenas’ recent comments on Tottenham stopper Hugo Lloris.
Spurs expert Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, claims Jenas’ comments were “unnecessary”.
Speaking while commentating on Tottenham’s draw with Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday (26 October), Jenas claimed, “I have to question Lloris, maybe I am being harsh but I don’t think he should be beaten” after Marcus Edwards opened the scoring.
Lloris also drew criticism for his performance against Newcastle United last weekend (23 October) with some fans blaming him for both of the goals Spurs conceded.
Wenham was left fuming with Jenas’ comments.
“He made a mistake against Newcastle for Callum Wilson’s goal,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It wasn’t a foul, for me. The striker can’t vanish, he has to go somewhere. That was a big mistake. I am not going to criticise him for the Marcus Edwards goal.
“It was arrowed right into the far corner. I know Jenas, after he watched it initially, started questioning Lloris again.
“That’s unnecessary for me. It was a really good goal and criticising Lloris there isn’t helping anyone. Lloris made a mistake on the back of a phenomenal performance against Man United a few days earlier.
“He is the least of our concerns at the moment. Please take the negative energy towards our wing-backs first, rather than a World Cup winner who has actually done things in their career.”

Lloris has so far played every minute of Tottenham’s 2022-23 season.
Spurs are next in action against Bournemouth on Saturday (29 October).
