Expert lambasts Leeds United decision after Radrizanni reveal

Leeds United should not have sold Raphinha to Barcelona without receiving the full transfer fee upfront.

That’s according to ex-Whites stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about his former side’s decision to sell their former star.

Speaking to The Athletic (5 August), Radrizanni claimed, “I will tell you on the second of September [if Barcelona will pay for Raphinha], if not we will have a global case on all the media in the world about Barcelona.”

Rahpinha, 25, joined Barcelona on 15 July after two seasons at Elland Road.

However, due to the financial restraints at Barcelona, the winger has not yet been registered to play in the club’s La Liga opener against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday (13 August).

Kenny can’t believe Leeds decided to sell to Barcelona.

“I don’t get that, if I was selling to Barcelona right now, with them as they are, I would want all of that money upfront,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I don’t know why you would put yourself in that position. Then again, I don’t know how the authorities are letting Barcelona do this.

“They still owe De Jong money. How can you sign players when you still owe De Jong his wages, there will be other players too, I’m sure.

“I find it very strange. On the Raphinha deal, we will just have to wait and see, it might be one to keep an eye on.

“You know Leeds won’t be happy if that money doesn’t arrive.

Why would you sell to Barcelona at this time, I don’t get it.”
