Expert lauds Nottingham Forest signing Morgan Gibbs-White after what he’s seen – ‘wow’

Morgan Gibbs-White will be a success at Nottingham Forest if he can recreate the form he displayed at Sheffield United.

That’s according to ex-Blades stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Forest’s record signing.

Forest announced the signing of Gibbs-White, 22, from Wolves on Friday (19 August).

The midfielder made his Forest debut at Goodison Park on Saturday (20 August) as his new side were held to a 1-1 draw.

Gibbs-White spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Sheffield United as the club pushed for the Championship playoffs.

Blades fan Kenny was blown away by what he saw from Gibbs-White as he registered 12 goals and 10 assists in 37 league appearances.

“It is a lot of money for someone who is not proven in the Premier League,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s potential. I watched him when he was at Sheffield United last season. Week in and week out he was the best player by far. Some of the things he was trying and pulling off, wow.

“If Forest can get him playing like he for Sheffield United, I know it is a completely different level, but he will be a good signing.

“Is the fee over the top? We will have to see but every player seems to go for about £40million or £50million these days.”

Forest are next in action against Tottenham on Sunday (28 August).

Steve Cooper’s side are tenth in the Premier League table as it stands.
