Expert: Newcastle United should be ‘extremely concerned’ by Alexander Isak latest
Newcastle United should be “extremely concerned” by the latest update on Alexander Isak’s fitness.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s continued absence.
Since joining Newcastle in a club-record deal back in August, Isak has only had three appearances for the club, scoring twice.

The 23-year-old then picked up an injury on international duty and has not been seen by the Toon Army since.
As quoted by Craig Hope, Eddie Howe updated fans on Monday (19 December), to say that Isak remains sidelined and his recovery is being judged “day by day”.
McManus is concerned for the striker.
“He’s barely played and that’s the worst possible thing when you have just joined a club for £70million,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“He started so well as well. That Liverpool game when he scored on his debut, what a goal. I think he was unlucky to have another goal ruled out for offside too. It was so tight.
“We saw his quality in that game and haven’t seen it since. I remember seeing he was going to be out for a few weeks.
“Then it was months, then it was after the World Cup and now he still isn’t there. Newcastle ought to be extremely concerned.
“Wilson is already injury prone so if they have spent £70million on a guy to challenge him and he’s also always injured, not a good move.”

Isak joined Newcastle after scoring 44 goals in 131 games for Real Sociedad.
He has also made 37 appearances for Sweden.
