Expert: Oliver Skipp and teammate may leave Tottenham after development that ‘doesn’t make sense’

Oliver Skipp and Yves Bissouma will be considering their Tottenham futures after failing to start against Arsenal on Sunday (15 January).

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Pape Sarr, 20, was handed a starting role alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for Spurs’ 2-0 loss to the Gunners.

This was only his second start for the club since joining from Metz in the summer of 2021.

Bissouma and Skipp have far more experience, making 32 first-team appearances between them this season with 20 of those being starts.

Wenham was left baffled by the move to start Sarr.

“Where does this leave the likes of Skipp and Bissouma, what are they thinking about their future?” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s the North London Derby. Pape Sarr has done 90 minutes against Portsmouth and he’s now in front of them in the pecking order.

“This is a guy who was going to go out on loan to Salamanca until about two weeks ago. They were both fine and on the bench so why were neither of them starting?

“Don’t get me wrong, Sarr was fine. He wasn’t as bad as some of the others but we’ve spent £50million on Bissouma and he can’t get a look in during our biggest game of the season.

“Skipp is someone Conte has been talking up for ages, saying how good he is and how much he rates him. He couldn’t get a look in.

“Then you have Sarr who has barely kicked a ball and he is trusted to boss the midfield against the team who are top of the league.

“It just doesn’t make sense to me.”
