Expert predicts ‘long-standing’ Tottenham-Chelsea ‘hatred’ to end after confirmed news
Tottenham and Chelsea may be able to repair their fractious relationship after boardroom change at Stamford Bridge.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Chelsea are going through a boardroom overhaul following the completion of Todd Boehly’s takeover on 31 May.
On 22 June, the Blues announced director Marina Granovskaia has left the club.
This came after 20 April’s announcement that Bruce Buck would be stepping down as the club’s chairman.
Following these changes, Wenham claims a new era can start between Chelsea and Tottenham.
“I have quite staunchly said Chelsea and Tottenham will not do business,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“That could be about to change and here’s why. The hatred at boardroom level was between Daniel Levy and Bruce Buck.
“There is an opportunity for Chelsea and Tottenham to rekindle some kind of relationship off the pitch.
“It was simply impossible to do business beforehand. Chelsea and Arsenal do plenty of business, Giroud, Cole, Cech, Gallas.
“I just wonder if the relationship can be repaired. It was at the point where the clubs’ directors wouldn’t even say a word to each other when they travelled to Stamford Bridge or vice versa.
“I’m interested if that can be repaired in any way. You look at clubs who play in pre-season tournaments in America or in international friendlies.
“It might be more beneficial for both clubs to be on a more speaking basis. Don’t get me wrong, the hatred from the fans will still continue.

“Just on a boardroom level, I find it interesting that Buck has gone. It goes back to when Chelsea poached Frank Arnesen.
“It’s a long-standing hatred, I don’t know how involved Marina was in all of that but there is a lot of change at Chelsea.”
In other news, Tottenham have been backed to sanction an exit for Pape Matar Sarr.
