Expert predicts when Celtic will announce new signing after confirmed news

The lack of transfer activity at Celtic is not a concern for Frank McAvennie.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is glad the club is not leaking information.

Celtic are yet to make a first-team addition this summer despite being linked with numerous players.

As it stands, the club have not made the loan deals of Jota or Cameron Carter-Vickers permanent despite the duo playing a key role in their 2021-22 title success.

Celtic’s only confirmed deal this summer is Vasilis Barkas’ loan move to FC Utrecht.

McAvennie is not concerned as the club are working hard behind the scenes to move players on before looking at signing fresh faces.

“Celtic are quiet, I hope they are just going about their business,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There are no leaks coming out of the club, nobody is shouting about it.

“You hope there is work going on behind the scenes. I think the first job is getting players out.

“There are a lot of players there on big wages who need to be moved on.

“Maybe once they go we will see things start to move in terms of bringing people in.

“Ange will be sitting down with the board and the director of football, he will tell them who needs to leave so I hope they are working on that.

“The fact that it has been so quiet isn’t a concern for me.”

Celtic need reinforcements ahead of a return to the Champions League group stages in the 2022-23 season.
