Expert raves over Man United deal for ‘brilliant’ Frenkie de Jong after source’s update
Frenkie de Jong is worth the £64.4million Man United are set to pay Barcelona for his services.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (27 June) that Man United are in advanced talks to sign De Jong for £64.4million and that an agreement was expected in the next 48 hours.

De Jong joined Barcelona from Ajax in the summer of 2019 and instantly became a key player during a difficult period for the club.
Wenham insists the midfielder is an excellent signing for the club.
“It’s a lot of money but he is a good player, I actually think he has done well at Barcelona,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He obviously did very well at Ajax as well as with the national team. I actually think this is a good signing.
“Yes, for a lot of money. But the club have saved a lot of wages in the players they let go for nothing.
“I do think that is a good signing, I really do. He adds proven quality and he was worked with Ten Hag before.
“He now has that central midfield partnership that he had at Ajax with Donny van de Beek already at the club.
“That worked so well and I think Donny will also get a complete restart at Man United this summer. He [Ten Hag] has that very talented midfield back together and I honestly think De Jong coming in is a brilliant signing.”

New boss Erik ten Hag is yet to make any summer additions – despite releasing six stars at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Chief among the released players was £93.2million record signing Paul Pogba.
