Expert reveals what Jesse Marsch told Leeds United stars after controversy

Leeds United fans will not see a repeat of their players’ ill discipline once Jesse Marsch returns to the touchline.

That’s according to former Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about last weekend’s controversy.

Leeds were shown three yellow cards during a frantic first half against Aston Villa (2 October) before Luis Sinisterra saw red in the second half.

Sinisterra was shown a second yellow for stopping Villa from taking a quick free-kick.

Marsch watched the game from the press box after being shown a red card ruing his side’s game against Brentford on 3 September.

McLeish insists the manager will not tolerate a repeat performance from his players.

“Marsch is a passionate manager and the players like that,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“Sometimes, as a player, you are happy that the manager is up in the stands for a couple of weeks, there isn’t that much pressure.

“In the end, it was a 0-0 draw and I’m not sure either side deserved to win the game. On the cards, it happens.

“It was a game Leeds wanted to win and without the manager there, maybe they lost their heads a little bit.

“I’m sure it won’t happen again, Marsch will have told them after the game that what they did wasn’t right.

“I’m sure it won’t happen again once Marsch is back on the touchline.”
