Expert: Richarlison facing Tottenham axe v Arsenal after development – ‘I understand…’

Richarlison may be dropped to the bench for this weekend’s game between Tottenham and Arsenal.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Richarlison, 25, has now started four games for Spurs this season with Dejan Kulusevski and Heung-Min Son dropping to the bench for games against Fulham and Leicester respectively.

The Brazilian has registered two goals and two assists for his new club this season and scored a further two goals for his country against Tunisia on Tuesday (27 September).

Despite his impressive form, Wenham claims Richarlison may be dropped to the bench on Saturday (1 October).

“If you were to ask me now, despite what Richarlison has just done, I have a sneaky feeling Conte will start Kulusevski and it will be Richarlison from the bench,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Based on it being a North London derby, emotions running high, Kulusevski is one of the most intelligent players we have on the pitch.

“He has this fantastic knack for winning set pieces and I just wonder if we are going to go to the Emirates and really look to impose our physical superiority.

“I understand they have had some injury problems. Partey might be out which would be massive for them. We have a really big, powerful team with the likes of Dier, Hojbjerg, Romero and Kulusevski.”

Kulusevski has not scored for Tottenham since the opening day of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

However, he has provided three assists in his seven top-flight outings.
