Expert shares 'big' Marcel Lavinier verdict after Tottenham source's 'brilliant' reveal

Marcel Lavinier has a “big chance” to impress Antonio Conte after being promoted to senior Tottenham training.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On 7 May, a club source told Football Insider that youngsters Marcel Lavinier, Malachi Fagan-Walcott, Harvey White, Nile John and Matthew Craig have been promoted to the first-team set-up.

This is due to the injury crisis that has deprived manager Antonio Conte of Japhet Tanganga, Oliver Skipp and Sergio Reguilon.

Lavinier, 21, has been a regular for the Under 23s this season, making 19 Premier League 2 appearances.

“It’s a brilliant opportunity for them to train alongside those quality defenders like Dier and Romero,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“The aim for them will be to impress Conte and hopefully earn themselves a place on the pre-season tour.

“The big thing for me here is Lavinier. He knows that if Emerson Royal gets injured then he is the only natural right-back there.

“Obviously Doherty is injured so there is a big chance for Lavinier to make an impact there in the eyes of the manager.

“It’s just a great opportunity for those lads and there is no downside at all to this.”

Tanganga, 22, was ruled out for the season on 18 March after having surgery on a reoccurring knee problem.

Skipp, 21, hasn’t played since January after establishing himself as a key player in the first half of the season.
