Expert shares ‘brilliant’ Anthony Ralston verdict after ‘hell of a blow’ to Celtic reported
Anthony Ralston can replace Josip Juranovic in the Celtic starting XI after he picked up an injury.
That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider amid the latest on the right-back.
As per The Herald (22 April), Juranovic, 26, will be missing for “a couple of weeks” after getting injured in last weekend’s (17 April) loss to Rangers.
Anthony Ralston, 23, could take his place after sharing defensive duties with Juranovic all season.
McAvennie claims the Scotland international is more than up to the task.
“Juranovic is a wonderful defender,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“We all know I have been critical of Tony Ralstin but he loves playing in the role Ange is currently giving him.
“I have no problem, with him coming in. It’s a shame for Juranovic because it’s one hell of a blow for him.
“He’s a brilliant player and he’s done so well against good players. Kent couldn’t get near him in the last few times we have played Rangers.
“It’s a man down but Celtic have to get on with it. That’s the only thing they can do at this point.
“Ralston has a few goals and assists so he does do a lot going forward.
“Hopefully he can play as brilliant as he did at the start of the season.”

Juranovic has made 35 appearances for Celtic since joining from Legia Warsaw in the summer of 2021.
He has scored five goals and registered two assists.
