Expert shares emphatic Erling Haaland verdict after ‘huge’ nine-figure Man City ‘agreement’
Noel Whelan has insisted Man City will have “no better chance” of winning the Champions League than over the next two years with Erling Haaland.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker insisted the 22-year-old “machine” can make the “difference” for Pep Guardiola as he hunts the elusive trophy.
According to the Daily Mail‘s Jack Vaughan (11 October), Haaland has a £175million release clause in his contract at Man City.

The report claims the clause becomes available in June 2024, meaning the Norway international could move on to a foreign club after just two years in Manchester.
Haaland has already scored 20 goals in 14 outings this term.
Man City are yet to win their first Champions League trophy and were beaten finalists against Chelsea in Porto in 2020.
They have secured progression to the knockout stage of this season’s competition with two games to spare.
Whelan praised City for including a hefty release clause in the strikers’ contract.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “There’s no better chance of City winning the Champions League than in these two years.
“He was that missing piece, the prolific striker they needed. He’s the finished article, an absolute machine.
“He is the player who could make a difference for them.

“He has that huge release clause of £175m, and City have done well to include that – but now it’s down to him to produce.
“Haaland will be crucial to them winning all four competitions, but the Champions League is really the one he gives them the edge in.”
