Expert shares emphatic verdict on Gareth Bale re-signing for Tottenham after update
Tottenham should re-sign Gareth Bale this summer.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On 1 June, Bale, 32, announced he will leave Real Madrid this summer.
Wenham insists Spurs should bring the attacker back for a third spell at Tottenham after impressing him while on loan at the club during the 2020-21 season.
“He is a lot better than the wingers we already have. He’s better than Bergwijn and Moura,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Last time he was here he had very limited game time and played in a horrible system. He still scored 11 league goals in those limited appearances.
“People say he didn’t score against the big teams, he did play against the big teams. Mourinho didn’t select him for some bizarre reason.
“When he did play, he scored. Next season you have five subs allowed and 12 allowed on the bench. I would have Gareth Bale back as an option all day.
“This is a player who counts as homegrown, counts as club trained because he signed for us at 17. That makes him useful for Champions League registration.
“Tottenham could come to a compromise on salary with him. Give him £160,000-a-week and that’s for a player who guarantees you goals in the Premier League.

“Kulusevski and Son can’t play every game and he is a great option. He is also great from set pieces at a time when we are unable to do anything from set pieces.
“I would absolutely take him back on a two-year deal or something like that.”
