Expert shares ‘massive’ Fashion Sakala claim after ‘incredible blow’ to Rangers

Fashion Sakala must take his “big chance” after being tipped to start Rangers’ next two games.

That’s according to former Celtic hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after an injury blow to Kemar Roofe.

On Friday (22 April), Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed Roofe, 29, and Aaron Ramsey will miss this weekend’s game against Motherwell and next week’s Europa League clash against RB Leipzig.

Roofe has been in fine form for Rangers since Alfredo Morelos picked up a season-ending injury, bagging four goals in his last three games.

Sakala, 25, has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season but is yet to bag in the Europa League.

McAvennie is backing the Gers hitman to take his “big chance”.

“I don’t know who else Rangers have, Sakala maybe?” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Is he the man to get goals in these big games? I don’t know but I’m not sure he has ever had the chance.

“What a big chance for him now. Every game is a must-win for Rangers now and he’s going to be leading the line.

“No Morelos, No Roofe, that’s an incredible blow for Rangers. But imagine if Sakala scored the goal to take them through in Europe?

“He has a massive chance and that can spur a player on to play even better.

“He should relish this opportunity because it might not come around again.”

Rangers

Sakala scored the winner as Rangers beat Celtic 2-1 in the Scottish Cup semi-final last weekend (17 April).

He joined the club from Oostende in the summer of 2021.
