Expert shares Tottenham response to latest Hugo Lloris error – ‘the talk inside the club is…’

Tottenham are planning to replace Hugo Lloris after his latest game-costing mistake.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Lloris, 36, failed to hold on to a tame long-range Douglas Luiz effort in the buildup to Aston Villa’s first goal against Tottenham on Sunday (1 January).

Spurs would go on to lose the game 2-0 as the side conceded more than one goal in their seventh straight match.

Wenham claims the club are now attempting to replace Lloris after yet another error.

“There is no escaping it, it was another mistake,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“That’s his fifth or sixth of the season already. The talk inside the club is that we are looking for a new goalkeeper ahead of next summer.

“It’s another disappointing error that directly leads to the first goal in the game that directly led to our heads dropping.

“At no point, after that first goal went in did we look like we were going to get back into the game. So it’s our captain making an error that has cost us big time.

“It’s so, so disappointing, again.”

Lloris has started all but one of Spurs’ Premier League games this season.

Fraser Forster was given a rare start against Brentford on Boxing Day as Lloris was recovering after the World Cup final.
