Expert shares verdict on Tottenham beating Chelsea to Marc Geuhi signing after update
Tottenham will fail in any bid to sign Marc Guehi as Chelsea will match any offer that arrives.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On 10 June, The Athletic reported Tottenham are “big admirers” of Crystal Palace star Guehi, 21.

That report came after, Alessandro Bastoni’s agent claimed his client will be staying at Inter Milan after talks with the club’s board on 8 June, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Guehi signed for Crystal Palace from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 and made 36 Premier League appearances during the 2021-22 season.
Wenham claims any offer from Spurs for the defender would be matched by Chelsea, making a deal impossible to complete.
“It’s not that I am not convinced by him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It’s just, if Tottenham put any kind of bid in for him, I think Chelsea would match or better it.
“You look at Chelsea, they need centre-backs this summer. Would you be surprised if they have a matching clause or first refusal on signing him? Probably not.
“He came through at Cobham, he would count as homegrown, club trained and club associated for Chelsea.
“They need a centre-half, if we made any bid for him I would not be surprised to see Chelsea come in and make the same bid.
“Then he would sign for Chelsea.”

Guehi had been at Chelsea since 2007 before he moved to Palace.
He made two appearances for the club with both of them coming in the EFL Cup during the 2019-20 season.
