Expert suggests Antonio Conte is ‘considering’ radical Tottenham change after World Cup development

Tottenham could shift their tactical approach to capitalise on Richarlison’s form for Brazil.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Richarlison, 25, has thrived at the World cup, scoring three goals for his country ahead of Friday’s (9 December) quarter-final clash against Croatia.

This is one more goal than he has scored for Spurs since joining the club in the summer.

Tite plays Richarlison as an out-and-out striker, the position Harry Kane occupies at Tottenham.

Wenham can see a future where Tottenham start Richarlison through the middle with Kane dropped into a deeper number 10 role.

“It has to be something we look at,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Harry is so good in that position, we know he plays there for England and he has got a load of assists this tournament.

“Richarlison has been outstanding, one of the players of the tournament and he has been scoring real high-quality goals as well.

“That then allows us to play Kulusevski and Son out wide and we would have all four of our outstanding players on the pitch at the same time.

“That lessens our options on the bench but I look at how Richarlison has played for Brazil and I definitely think it will be something Conte is considering.

“Richarlison is still getting used to life at Tottenham anyway and I have no doubt he will be better in the next period of the season.

“But what an asset to have.”
