Expert: This is Tottenham plan for Djed Spence next season after source's talks update
Djed Spence will be a bit-part player for Tottenham next season, according to Kevin Campbell.
The ex-Nottingham Forest striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, predicted Antonio Conte will give the 21-year-old “time to settle” into the Premier League.
Spence is set to leave Middlesbrough this summer after an impressive loan spell at Forest in the 2021-22 campaign.
Spurs are in pole position to sign the wing-back this summer.
A recruitment source told Football Insider (15 June) that Tottenham held further talks over a deal for Spence on Tuesday night.
The club are understood to be confident of securing a £20million deal with Middlesbrough.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Spence’s potential role at Spurs next season, Campbell said: “I don’t see him starting, if I’m honest.
“I see a development in him over the next 12 to 18 months into that regular starter.
“He will get game time but I don’t think he’ll be starting every week. Conte will give him time to settle. Spence would be part of the squad who come in when there is a rotation.
“He has really good attributes. I just see Antonio Conte trying to build an athletic squad. Spence will bring that dynamism down the right-hand side.
Spence was one one the Championship’s standout performers last season.
He contributed two goals and five assists in 42 league appearances.
