Expert: This is when Tottenham will confirm Alessandro Bastoni signing after source’s update
Tottenham will sign Alessandro Bastoni before the start of the club’s pre-season programme.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
This site revealed on Wednesday that Spurs have identified Bastoni, 23, as their first choice left-sided centre-back this summer and updated on Friday the club are ready to submit their opening bid this weekend.
Wenham is expecting a deal to be done over the next two weeks.
“Bastoni is the guy I want, I have been banging this drum for a while,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I think he suits Conte’s style of play. Of course, Conte knows him from his time at Inter so hopefully there is a relationship there.
“I think and hope this is one we can get done early. If you look at Aston Villa, they already have three signings through the door.
“Liverpool have one as well so there is no reason to be out there getting these deals done.
“I think the prospect of a defence including Dier, Romero and Bastoni is very exciting to me and it shows the level of player we can attract with Conte.
“If we sign him, I expect it will be before pre-season starts. So over the next two weeks or so.”
Bastoni is well known to Conte after he managed him during his time in charge of Inter from 2019-2021.
He made 36 Serie A and Champions League starts among 44 appearances in all competitions in the recently-completed campaign.
