Expert: Tottenham must sell Harry Winks after social media ‘drama’

Harry Winks should be told by Tottenham his summer after he was spotted liking tweets that criticised the fanbase.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Winks, 26, was a second-half substitute as Tottenham lost 1-0 to Brighton on Saturday (16 April).

The midfielder was criticised for his performance on social media despite only playing 18 minutes.

The Spurs Web shared a screenshot of Winks’ Twitter account after the gem as it appeared he had liked a tweet labelling the club’s fanbase as “a joke”.

Wenham is fed up with Winks’ complaints.

“I saw that and I saw someone else post that he has unfollowed Tottenham on Instagram,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“To be honest, I’m a bit bored of this with Harry Winks. I feel like this keeps happening, this, you know, “drama”.

“He is one I just want to move on in the summer. If he is going to be involved in these games at the end of the season, the fans need to support him.

“Some players ignore the social media stuff, some don’t. I saw someone complain that Winks came on and passed it backwards 150 times while we were chasing a game.

“I don’t see a need to Winks to be drawing attention to that really.”

Winks has made 16 Premier League appearances this season.

Tottenham are next in action against Brentford on Saturday (23 April).
