Expert: Tottenham ready to pounce and complete last-minute signing after confession

Alan Hutton has claimed Antonio Conte will be “scanning the market” right up until the end of the transfer window to see if he can add to the Tottenham side.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Aston Villa right-back said that Conte will be happy with his current squad and believes they are good enough to challenge for top four.

As quoted by the BBC (29 August), the Lilywhites’ boss said his side will be “okay” whether they make more signings or not before the transfer window closes tomorrow night (1 September).

The Italian said his team are “more complete” than they were last season.

Tottenham have made eight signings this summer.

The London club are yet to lose a game in the Premier League this season.

When asked if new signings before deadline day are likely, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he’ll definitely still be scanning the market.

Nobody will shut the door at this moment in time, with just over 24 hours to go. I think if it was to finish today, I think he’d be happy. The squad that they’ve got, the recruits that have come in, they’ve strengthened in the areas that they wanted to whether it be wing-back, left centre-half, they’re strong up front, midfield’s strong.

I actually for once think Tottenham could do something this year. I genuinely believe that. They’ve got an elite manager now with a good squad that can go and challenge for those top four places.

I think he’ll be happy with the squad that he’s got but if there’s a deal that comes up and makes them better I think he’ll grab it with both hands.
