Expert: Tottenham set for ‘significant’ financial boost after ‘surprise’ development

Tottenham are set for a “surprise” financial boost thanks to Tyson Fury’s next fight taking place in their stadium.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host Fury’s heavyweight title match against Derek Chisora on 3 December.

It was announced on 22 October that 50,000 tickets have already been sold with a sell-out expected.

Wenham was not expecting the announcement but claims events like this will only benefit Tottenham in the long run.

“I was a little bit surprised because it’s the third of December,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“You are not guaranteed good weather at a venue with an open roof. That did leave me surprised but I am sure that even though it is not the most exciting fight on paper, they have obviously fought twice before, people want to come and watch Tyson Fury.

“He’s a huge draw and it’s in London, people who haven’t seen him before will want to come. It will be another sell-out, 66,000 or something like that.

“It’s another big event and more money into the club’s coffers. I have been saying this for ages, we need more events at the Stadium.

“I’m on the record saying that I was events to be taking place there every single day so we are constantly bringing significant money in and if events like this are successful then that can only benefit Tottenham.”

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium played host to numerous concerts through the summer of 2022.

More recently, the venue hosted an NFL clash between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints.
