Expert: Tottenham will make two last-gasp signings after Sky update

Tottenham will add two young stars to their youth ranks before the transfer window closes.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham have signed seven senior players this summer but have added very little to their academy sides.

However, this may change before deadline day with Sky reporter Lyall Thomas reporting on Friday (26 August), that Spurs have agreed a £2million fee with Sheffield United for 17-year-old striker Will Lankshear.

Wenham also claims Blackburn’s Ashley Phillips will arrive before the window closes.

“I think we are going to add a few young players,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I think we will go in for that defender at Blackburn, Phillips. There was also a report that we have agreed a deal to sign this young striker from Sheffield United.

“I’m a big fan of that move because we need a backup for Jamie Donley and Jayden Williams in the Under 21s and Under 18s.

“So it looks like those deals will be done in time and that would be a big boost to our youth ranks and two more very interesting players to keep an eye on.”

On 10 February, Football Insider revealed Man United were desperate to win the race for Williams as they see him as a star-in-the-making.

On 10 November, speaking to Lancs Live, then Rovers boss Tony Mowbray hailed Phillips as “phenomenal” and admitted “the kid has every attribute” you would want in a top defender.
