Expert verdict on Rangers axing Antonio Colak after what he’s seen at Ibrox
Alan Hutton has claimed Antonio Colak must continue his goalscoring form to keep Alfredo Morelos out of the starting XI at Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said Morelos, 26, is still the first-choice striker at Ibrox but is not fully fit yet.
Colak, 28, started for the Light Blues in their Champions League qualifier against Union Saint-Gilloise on Tuesday (9 August).
Morelos was named on the bench but was brought on in place of the Croatian for the final ten minutes of the game.
Colak was on the scoresheet as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side won 3-0 at Ibrox.
When asked if Colak could keep Morelos out of the starting XI if he keeps up his recent form, Hutton told Football Insider. “It’s like anything, if you’re playing well and scoring goals you’re going to play.

“I think even though Morelos is back into to team and scored the other day, he’s probably still a little bit off 100 per cent match sharpness so it’s up to Colak to hold on to the position and keep playing at a high level.
“If he does that then he’ll make it difficult for the manager when he has to make that decision. Will it be Morelos or Colak. The only thing he can do is make it hard but at this moment in time, I see Morelos as the number one striker if he stays.“
