‘Eyes are watering’ – Dragusin reacts as Tottenham release emotional Son and Van de Ven footage

Radu Dragusin has responded after Tottenham release a moving video featuring Son Heung-Min and Micky van de Ven.

Tottenham have begun a new era under former Brentford manager Thomas Frank.

The Dane joined Spurs just after the end of the season as Ange Postecoglou’s Europa League victory was not enough for him to keep his job.

The Australian got the sack after a dismal domestic campaign as his side finish 17th in the table.

Daniel Levy turned to the ex-Bees boss to take the Lilywhites to the next level, using the end of the 17-year trophy drought to spur on a new beginning.

So far the north London side remain undefeated under Frank with one win and two draws as the players continue to get minutes under their belt.

Competing in the Champions League next year will mean a continued theme of fixture congestion, highlighting the need for the squad to be in a great shape for the new campaign.

Spurs have arrived in Hong Kong ahead of their Asia tour, playing fierce rivals Arsenal on 31 July, giving fans on the continent the opportunity to see their team in action.

Family stunned by Tottenham’s surprise

In a post on the club’s official Instagram page (29 July), a family of Spurs fans were surprised by the north London side with the chance to meet some of the players post-training.

Captioned: “Our eyes are watering”, the travelling family who reside in Bangkok, Thailand told the interviewer their favourite players are captain Son and centre-back Van de Ven.

After the end of the Lilywhites training session, the four got to meet the Korean and the Dutchman who signed shirts and smiled for photos.

Dragusin, who is currently out injured, liked the post.

The Romanian’s injury couldn’t have come at a worse time from an individual perspective after the defender stepped up in the absence of Cristian Romero and Van de Ven last season.

The Lilywhites were ravaged by injury last time out, which eventually caught up with the 23-year-old who has been out since the end of January.

His absence was felt as Spurs were often playing with out-of-position centre-backs, contributing to their poor league form.

This pushed the club to bring in two more centre-halves in Kota Takai and the highly-rated Luka Vuskovic from Hadjuk Split.

The former Wolfsburg defender praised the Croatian’s impact so far, saying (Football London): “Luka [Vuskovic] is only 18 years old, but what you can see from how he behaves on the pitch and off the pitch, you can see he is a really talented football player.”

The number 80 has already grabbed a goal and an assist to kickstart his career in north London.

For Dragusin, Vuskovic is just one of several talented central defenders competing to displace Romero and Van de Ven.

Kevin Danso and Ben Davies will also be in the mix as Frank will likely rotate around their Champions League ties.

The Romanian’s ACL injury means he will most certainly miss the start of the 2025-26 season, but he will need to act fast if he wants to push for a starting role.
